September 10, 2018

Who are you?
Housey mami (Consuelo Benavente Barrientos)

When do you play on House 559 Music?
Friday (bi weekly) 6-8

Describe your music style? What’s different about you compared to other DJs?
I tend to put lyrical stories though out my mixes that express what is going on in my life at the time, whether the vocals talk about friends, relationships, life and state of mind or just current situations. I use my favortie basslines to mix with meaningful old school to brand new released vocals.

What attracted you to play at House 559 Music?
The oportunity at first! and after attending i now love the people who run the radio, other acts involved, the music played are all my favourite songs and i love that it is encouraged to be yourself. The environment is super professional without being unfriendly or too strict. Environment makes me feel so so welcome and confident.

Who are your favourite DJ/Producers?
Luke larrell, Riaz Dihanni, Mihlas safaris, patrick topping, green velvet, sidney charles, puka, PAWSA, Majesty

Where do you find music inspiration?
Usually attending other rave or festival events where the magic comes to life. I usually get emotional watching a huge crowd of people enjoying themselves, sad i kno.

What is one track that never gets old for you, no matter how many times you hear it?
LUKE LARRELLft MAJESTY ft KELE – THEY WANT YOU 💥💥💥💥💥 released in 2012 i used to play that song before i was even old enough to rave. ill play that song for the rest of my life

How did u get into djing/ what’s your musical background?
Pure love for house music since i was a baby, my favortie song growing up used to be -Sing it back by Moloko, as i got older i started listening to funky house then as i turned 18 and was introduced to house raves it took off from there, only now i am in a music school do i realise that i have loved house music all my life. All my favortie songs i used to sing and dance my heart out too where some of the first big house tracks to be released in the charts. Hoping people feel influenced by the mixes i put together and can perhaps feel how i feel when i mix them – which is overly hyped and ready to dance.

What do you usually start with when preparing for a set?
My favorite tracks to start with because it gets me in my flow and mood for a show of sounds.  – let me know if i have answered this wrong!

What are your main challenges as a DJ?
Organising perfect playlists for myself to easily flow through for a particular event i have never played for before, i can spend hours in the day making a 2 hour playlist i find compeltley flawless and if i dont find it perfect for the job i do not sleep until its done.

What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a DJ? As an attendee?
My favortie place i have played for so far has been House 559 due to the complete stress free enviroment and friendly staff as well as brilliant footage and images taken at the time.

What is one mistake you see a lot of DJs making? / What advice would you give to aspiring DJs?
Stop begging to know every more established dj or producer you can physically come across. If your good at what you do and you are happy then you will go where you belong. Focus on u and u only, you will see everyone else when you get to the top.

What’s next for you? Where can we find you? (upcoming gigs)
Club Reina in black friers for every and any afterparty with brand label ‘ Danach Afterparties’ every weekend. Also playing for ‘ATD’ (Attention To Detail) 9th September for there closing summer party

Your favourite mix? (of yourself)
Usually my newest one which is called ‘Para Ti’ which is kind of a love story about someone i cant love anymore but i wish i did. Para Ti means ‘For you’ in Spanish.
